Safety & Downtime

Safety Note: We use hyaluronic acid fillers selected for the treatment area and your individual needs. Treatment is carried out using aseptic technique, with risks, warning signs and the clinic's complication pathway explained before you proceed.

Expected Downtime: The lips have a rich blood supply, so swelling and bruising are common after treatment. Swelling is often most noticeable during the first 24–72 hours before gradually settling. Minor bruising may fade over 3–7 days, although swelling and bruising can take longer to resolve.

Home Aftercare Instructions

  • Avoid hot drinks and eating until any numbness has fully worn off
  • Do not apply lip balms, lipsticks, or glosses for at least 24 hours
  • Gently apply a clean cool pack wrapped in a cloth to manage swelling
  • Avoid kissing, drinking through straws, and heavy facial rubbing for 48 hours
  • Avoid vigorous physical exercise and alcohol for 24 hours

When will I see the results?

You may notice added volume immediately, but initial swelling can make the lips appear fuller than the intended result. Allow around two weeks for the shape and feel to settle before assessing the outcome. Individual recovery times vary.

Will my lips feel hard or lumpy?

Swelling, tenderness, firmness or small lumps can occur immediately after treatment. These often improve as the lips settle over the following two weeks. Contact the clinic if you are concerned or if symptoms persist.

How much filler is used?

The amount is agreed during your consultation and depends on your anatomy, treatment history and goals. The available options are 0.5 ml and 1 ml, but treatment only proceeds when clinically appropriate.

Can I have my old lip filler dissolved and refilled?

Dissolving previous hyaluronic acid filler may be appropriate in some cases. This requires a separate clinical assessment, and any further filler treatment is planned only after the area has been reviewed.
